Michael is one of the country’s leading specialist factual film-makers.

Working mostly in science and history, he has a prestigious record of making award-winning and popular content for broadcasters and streamers around the world.

A passionate storyteller who combines a rigorous editorial focus with stunning location work, he has made films across a wide range of genres and formats – from presenter-led blue-chip series (he was the lead director on the ‘Wonders of…’ series that turned Brian Cox into a household name) to drama-doc (Celts: Blood Iron and Sacrifice, Killers of the Cosmos) and long-form feature docs (Cosmonauts: How Russia Won the Space Race and the Emmy nominated Einstein and Hawking: Unlocking The Universe).

As well as directing single films Michael is an accomplished series producer, leading large international teams and managing relationships with commissioners and broadcasters. He has recently been show-running a major new series with unprecedented access to Chinese science and technology.

Over a twenty period more than a third of Michael’s productions have won award recognition – including 3 Bafta nominations - 1 winner, a Peabody award, 2 Rockie awards, a Realscreen Award, multiple RTS awards, several European media awards and an Emmy nomination.
