Tom is an Emmy and BAFTA winning documentary Director who turns some of the biggest topics of our time into compelling stories with real emotional heart. With observational film-making deep in his DNA, his passion is for bringing authentic human narratives to challenging factual content and wrapping it in a bold cinematic vision. His singles, features and series reach big audiences across Disney+ and Apple TV, to Red Bull and the BBC.
With his trademark accessible, human touch, Tom’s films have tackled everything from our global impact on wildlife (The Year Earth Changed - which received an Emmy Honors Award in 2022) and climate change (The Last Ascent and Inside Extinction Rebellion), to the over-medicalisation of children (The Dr Who Gave up Drugs) and commercial space travel (The 21st Century Race for Space). He’s spent months in the most extreme environments on Earth, undertaken high-risk undercover investigations and has made films with traditional communities, newly diagnosed cancer patients and household names like Sir Richard Branson.
Tom’s most recent work is the brand new, premium series Naming the Dead for National Geographic / Hulu / Disney+ which follows detectives and coroners using the latest DNA techniques to identify long dead human remains and, in a highly emotional climax, reunite them with their families.
His previous film, the Disney+ feature doc Finding Michael, quickly became one of the most watched factual shows on the platform in the UK. A beautifully shot, emotionally driven journey to Everest, it follows well-known British TV star Spencer Matthews exploring his grief for the first time, as he searches for the body of his brother, who died near the summit 23 years earlier.
