Nick Read

Nick is an award-winning filmmaker known for making contemporary observational documentaries, often shooting in remote and dangerous locations. Over the past 25 years he has made films for all the UK broadcasters, and many US networks, working with some of the most highly regarded producers, editors and commissioning editors in our business.

Having trained on 16mm film, Nick started in the industry as a frontline news cameraman for NBC, covering many of the main conflict zones on the 1990’s. Since then he has shot & directed over 50 documentaries (Inside Israel’s Jails; Slumdog Children of Mumbai, Prisoners of Katrina; Return of the Lost Boys etc). He is a 3 times BAFTA & 2 time EMMY finalist, and his work has won 2 Foreign Press Association awards, the Rory Peck Impact Award and the Creative Diversity Award for best documentary. He has also been recognised separately for his camerawork by the Guild of Television Cameramen.
