Camilla Hall's feature doc Subject will set the ethical debate for docs this year

It was a BFI Screen 1 sell-out UK premiere of Subject last Friday night. If you work in documentary, and you don’t know about this film yet, you almost certainly will soon.

The feature doc raises the question of where the lines of ethics and responsibility lie between film-makers and the people whose stories they tell, and whose lives may never be the same again. It draws on the experiences of key contributors from Hoop Dreams, The Wolfpack, The Staircase, Three Identical Strangers, Leaving Neverland and other high profile feature docs.

This picture shows Camilla Hall (2nd on the right) with her co-director Jennifer Tiexiera during the following Q+A session, moderated by Kim Longinotto and joined by The Staircase ‘subject’ Margie Blakemore.
