Jonathan Levene is a director, producer and development executive specialising in talent-led comedy and factual entertainment for a global audience. He builds shows around people, crafting worlds that feel truthful, whether the format is fully scripted, factual entertainment, or authored documentary, often blending comedy with real world impact.

His work spans award nominated feature films through to digital-first series. He is best known for his work with Sacha Baron Cohen, including co-producing the double OSCAR nominated Borat Subsequent Moviefilm (Amazon Studios) and the triple Emmy nominated Who Is America? (Paramount+).

Jonathan takes projects from a scribbled notebook idea all the way to final cut, originating and packaging ideas, writing decks and scripts, pitching to buyers, then directing and shaping the edit through to delivery.

He also works closely with writers as both a collaborator and commissioner, and across development roles at Untold Studios, FourByTwo Films and Spellthorne, he has created and sold projects with broadcasters and streamers (Netflix, Amazon Studios, Channel 4), powered by strong relationships with buyers, agents and talent.

Recent credits include Channel 4’s Mission to Space with Francis Bourgeois, which he created and directed, and The British Miracle Meat (Channel 4), which he co-created and produced (The Guardian called it “One of the most audaciously satirical spoofs ever aired in the UK.”). He also developed the upcoming comedy feature Ladies First (Netflix) for Sacha Baron Cohen’s FourByTwo Films, working closely with Sacha and Hollywood writer Katie Silberman (Booksmart).

Jonathan has a knack for spotting talent early, and backed Francis Bourgeois at a digital stage, created Trainspotting with Francis Bourgeois (Channel 4 Digital) as the bridge from TikTok to premium television, then built the format, voice and narrative that helped translate him into a primetime lead. Alongside long form, Jonathan has growing experience in performance-led short form, including writing several promos and campaign films for Jason Statham.

He is drawn to ambitious, authored series with comedy, heart, and a clear story engine, plus the occasional moment where reality offers something funnier than a writers’ room could dream up.
