Matt is a multi-award winning and twice BAFTA nominated filmmaker specialising in premium, finely crafted documentaries for global platforms and audiences. Whatever the project, he takes enormous pride in making emotive and stylish films with compelling stories thoughtfully told.
His most recent credits include In Vogue: The 1990s – the ultra A-list docu-series for Disney+, Billions Club for Spotify - a short follow-doc with global superstar Ed Sheeran and a six-part series for Sky Documentaries which brought together rediscovered archive and fresh interviews to showcase the extraordinary life and work of celebrated broadcaster Sir David Frost.
Matt began his career at the BBC working on prestigious arts and history strands before going on to direct and write for several celebrated presenters including Dame Mary Beard and Sir Simon Schama.
Since then, Matt has embraced the opportunity to expand his portfolio with a rich array of work for among others HBO, Amazon and ITV. He has also led projects for global brands and institutions such as Asics sports wear and The Peninsula Hotel Group.
Among Matt's diverse credits are the worldwide factual entertainment hit The Apprentice, the landmark history series Civilisations for BBC and PBS and the multi million dollar One Cup, A Thousand Stories for Chinese platform Migu. In 2021, Matt harnessed his long standing relationship with the British Royal Family to secure unprecedented access for the intimate reflective piece HRH Prince Philip: The Royal Family Remembers.
Now with over twenty five years of experience in filmmaking, Matt is comfortable crafting films across multiple genres and styles whether they involve onscreen hosts, archive led retrospectives, entertainment formats or character driven observational narratives.
He brings extensive knowledge of international filming and has the technical gifts and keen eye to be a cinematographer in his own right. Matt enjoys creating a collaborative and positive spirit in teams large and small and is available for development and consultancy placements too.
Always keen to explore new territory and expand his repertoire, Matt has recently delivered a commission for The Kingdom of Bahrain and is developing projects with a government department in India and a luxury car brand in Germany.
