Alex Renton is an award-winning presenter, author and investigative journalist, known for high-impact campaigning documentaries. His 2022/2023 BBC Radio 4 series In Dark Corners looked at abuse and its cover-up in Britain's elite schools - the show topped BBC Sounds download charts and won best series (Radio Academy Arias) and best radio programme (British Broadcasting Press Guild).

Alex's career in print journalism took him from the Independent to the Times, with stints as a conflict and war reporter and on many investigations. He worked on advocacy and policy in East Asia for Oxfam for four years. His four published books cover subjects from food culture, environmental policy and the history of taste Planet Carnivore (Guardian Books, 2014), 13 Foods that Shape Our World, (BBC Books, 2022) to his own ancestors' secret history as plantation owners and slave traders in Blood Legacy (Canongate, 2021), which was listed for several awards, including the Bailey Gifford prize.

He was presenter/reporter on the 2018 ITV Disclosure documentary (made by ITN), Boarding Schools: the Secret Shame, which drew on years of work interviewing victims of abuse in residential schools and tracking down the victims. A BBC Panorama documentary to be broadcast in late 2023 also draws on this work, and features Alex.
