Stern & Wild client’s latest series is Apple TV’s entertaining new celebrity culinary heritage show

Congratulations to Stern & Wild filmmaker Tara Jang, Series Producer of Apple TV’s newly announced culinary adventure show THE UNLIKELY COOK WITH AWKWAFINA, which stars award winning actor and comedian Nora Lum, aka Awkwafina.

The uplifting eight-part series follows Awkwafina as she embarks on a deeply personal cross-country journey to explore contemporary Asian American cuisine, starting with her own family’s remarkable legacy.

Awkwafina’s family ran Lum’s, an iconic Cantonese restaurant in Flushing, New York, and the very first in a now thriving Chinatown. Despite growing up in the family business, however, THE FAREWELL star can’t cook. At all. With help from acclaimed chefs, restaurateurs and her family members, Awkwafina travels across America to explore what it takes to master Asian food in the kitchen — and perhaps to reimagine Lum’s legacy for today.

The series is produced for Apple TV by UK indie Twofour. It is the second collaboration between the two, following the joyous Emmy Award-nominated travel series THE RELUCTANT TRAVELLER WITH EUGENE LEVY starring Emmy Award winner Eugene Levy. Tara is Series Producer of THE UNLIKELY COOK; Awkwafina is Exec Producer alongside David Brindley, Itay Reiss and Caroline Davies. The release date has yet to be announced.
