New doc from Katharine English looks at the case against Madeleine McCann suspect on day he’s released from prison

Congratulations to Stern & Wild filmmaker Katharine English, Producer and Director of the powerful new documentary MADELEINE MCCANN: SEARCHING FOR THE PRIME SUSPECT which airs on ITV1 tonight at 9.00pm.

The broadcast coincides with the release from prison of Christian Brueckner, the prime suspect in the disappearance of the young British girl Madeleine McCann from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal 18 years ago.

German prosecutors recently made headlines by confirming that Brueckner, the man they’ve long believed responsible, remains their only suspect and continues to be the focus of their investigation.

For the documentary, Criminologist Dr Graham Hill, a former senior detective who was sent to the Algarve in the early days of the investigation to assist local police, returns to Praia da Luz for the first time. Revisiting the scene of Madeleine’s disappearance, examining Brueckner’s criminal history in both Portugal and Germany and meeting those who knew him to build a detailed offender profile, Dr Hill examines the case against the man who remains the prime suspect - and who has consistently denied any involvement in Madeleine McCann’s disappearance.

The film is a MultiStory Media Production for ITV1 & ITVX. Mike Blair is Executive Producer.
