Three projects from Stern & Wild clients shortlisted for this year’s News & Documentary Emmys

We are excited to report that three fantastic projects from Stern & Wild filmmakers have been shortlisted for the 2026 News & Documentary Emmy Awards. Congratulations to Sally Brindle, Fergus Colville and Emily Turner.

The chilling feature documentary AILEEN: QUEEN OF THE SERIAL KILLERS (Netflix / BBC Studios / NBC News Studios) directed by Emily Turner is nominated for the Outstanding Crime and Justice Documentary award. Drawing on extensive archival material, the film re-examines the story of Aileen Wournos who killed seven men across Central Florida between 1989 and 1990 and was eventually executed for the deaths in 2002. It explores the circumstances that shaped Wuornos’s life and crimes and investigates the broader questions surrounding her motivations and the judicial system’s response.

Sally Brindle is Series Producer of the brilliant three-part series SURVIVING BLACK HAWK DOWN (RSA Films / Netflix) which is nominated in the Outstanding Cinematography: Documentary category. A gripping watch, the series explores the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia, which was depicted in Ridley Scott’s Oscar-winning 2001 feature film BLACK HAWK DOWN, providing perspectives from both sides of the conflict which saw three American Black Hawk helicopters shot down by Somali forces and ended with the deaths of 18 US soldiers and an estimated 130-700 Somalians.

Our final shortlisted client project is the extraordinary documentary special TITANIC: THE DIGITAL RESURRECTION (Atlantic Productions / National Geographic) directed by Fergus Colville which is nominated for the Outstanding Graphic Design: Documentary award. The 90-minute film documents the creation of the first-ever full-scale, 3D high-resolution digital scan of the entire RMS Titanic shipwreck and invites a group of leading historians, engineers and forensic experts to explore this 1:1 “digital twin” as they reconstruct the ship’s final moments and reveal new insights into what truly happened on that fateful night in 1912.

We wish the best of luck to all our talented filmmakers, all the nominated projects and the fantastic teams who made them. Winners will be announced in New York on 27 and 28 May 2026. For a full list of nominees, click here.
