Stern & Wild’s Sam Miller helms gripping account of SAS raid to end 1980 hostage crisis

We are absolutely thrilled for Stern & Wild filmmaker Sam Miller whose latest project is a feature-length documentary for Channel 4 exploring the extraordinary story of the 1980 Iranian Embassy Siege and the SAS mission to free the hostages.

SAS: IRANIAN EMBASSY SIEGE (w/t) offers a minute-by-minute account of the most dramatic terrorist hostage crisis in British history which saw armed Arab Iranian separatists hold 26 people hostage in the Iranian Embassy in London for six days and the daring mission mounted by the SAS to break the siege – all of it witnessed live on television by the watching world.

Using never-before-seen footage and featuring key players speaking for the first time, the film reveals the secret story of what the filmmakers describe as a “transformative moment” in British history “when the Special Air Service was revealed to the world, the Iron Lady was born, and Britain regained its reputation on the world stage”.

The 90-min film was commissioned by Channel 4 as a companion piece for its upcoming six-part drama series, THE SIEGE, starring Danny Dyer, David Morrissey and Motaz Malhees.

SAS: IRANIAN EMBASSY SIEGE is produced by UK indie Wonderhood Studios (SALISBURY POISONINGS: THE UNTOLD STORY, POWER: THE DOWNFALL OF HUW EDWARDS, MICHAEL JACKSON: THE TRIAL). It was developed by Tom Garton, is exec produced by Tom Anstiss, produced by Alice Ankeny and line produced by Casey McConnell.

It is directed by super-talented filmmaker Sam, whose recent credits include HEIST: ROBBING THE BANK OF ENGLAND for Apple TV, THE MILLION POUND SHAMAN SCAM for BBC Two and THE PLAYBOY BUNNY MURDER for ITV.

It will air on Channel 4 later in the year.
