Stern & Wild client’s investigation delivers significant real-world impact

Huge shout out to Stern & Wild filmmaker Jasleen Kaur Sethi, whose 2023 true crime docuseries, THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT MURDERS (Flicker Productions for Sundance Now and Channel 4) might just have helped to bring justice to the family of a cold case murder victim.

Produced and series directed by Jasleen, the four-part documentary re-examined the murders of four flight attendants in Texas in the 1970s and 1980s, who were all employed by the same airline and whose killings shared significant similarities. While convicted rapist Jonathan Reed was found guilty of the initial murder, the three subsequent killings occurred while he was incarcerated. The series reassessed the available evidence and traced the timeline of each case to ask if they were individual crimes or could potentially be linked.

As a result of the production team’s enquiries, the Grapevine Police Department in Colorado reopened the investigation into the unsolved murder of the third victim identified in the documentary, Braniff Airlines flight attendant Beverly Bruneau, who was found strangled in her apartment in February 1981. Investigators were able to match DNA recovered from a suspect’s trash this year to evidence found at the scene that had been preserved for decades. A 79-year-old man has now been arrested and charged with Beverly’s murder.
