Jane is currently delivering a documentary for Hello Sunshine commissioned by Channel 4 and has recently finished producing and directing a feature documentary about iconic 2tone Selecter singer Pauline Black for Sky Arts. In 2020, Jane directed and produced ‘Paloma Faith: As I Am’, a documentary feature film for BBC2 which is an intimate portrayal of the inner conflict of being a very successful pop-star and a parent. Her next feature-length documentary ‘Disgraced’ for Paramount was about a controversial Jewish ultra-orthodox custody battle and one woman’s struggle for justice in this hidden world.
Jane works on a wide variety of subjects and to each project brings a strong vision which encompasses skilled visual storytelling, solid and defined narrative and a deep understanding of when to use actuality, archive, graphics and interviews to create the best film and serve the story. Jane is highly skilled at finding her own stories and ideas as well as working to a brief on already commissioned programmes. With the personal attributes of a ‘very sensitive person’, Jane’s empathy is extremely attuned to her subjects and creates strong long-lasting relationships with them. Also, Jane is known for attracting and managing talent and a sought-after cast to her films.
Jane is also a celebrated and award-winning photojournalist which she worked as for 12 years before re-training as a documentary director. From this she brings solid journalistic skills, her photographic eye and deep understanding of aesthetics. She also has lots of experience of working on a wide variety of subjects: from conflict zones to the inner workings of Parliament to music festivals. Jane has worked in a multitude of places often working under pressure: from intimately following Prime Ministers to being embedded with soldiers on the frontline of Afghanistan; as well as filming contributors intimately over many years and creating very solid relationships.
