Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe tells her own story in Stern & Wild filmmaker doc airing this week

Erica Gornall’s feature documentary commissioned by the BBC to accompany the hit drama series about the incarceration of British-Iranian charity worker Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe airs on BBC Two this Wednesday 3 December at 9.00pm.

Featuring Nazanin’s first documentary interview, PRISONER 951: THE HOSTAGES’ STORY recounts her story of being held hostage in Tehran for six years, and the tireless campaign by her husband, Richard Ratcliffe, to bring her home. It also includes testimony from former hostages Anoosheh Ashoori, Kylie Moore-Gilbert and Jason Rezaian and from senior political figures, as it highlights the severe human cost of diplomacy and the growing crisis of state hostage-taking.

Widely previewed at the launch of the sister four-part BBC One drama, PRISONER 951, starring Narges Rashidi and Joseph Fiennes, Erica’s film is a critic’s pick across a range of publications, including Pick of the Day in the TV Times (★ ★ ★ ★★) and The Herald Magazine, Top 10 of the Week and Pick of the Day in the Radio Times and Critic’s Choice in The Times. It is produced by Dancing Ledge Productions for BBC iPlayer and BBC Two. Erica is Director; Fatima Salaria is Exec Producer; Cassie Cornish-Trestrail is Producer; and David G. Hill is Editor. The wonderful score is by Simon Russell.

For those who can’t wait until Wednesday, it’s available to stream on iPlayer now.
