Four projects from Stern & Wild clients in the running for this year’s Broadcast Digital Awards
Huge congratulations to Stern & Wild filmmakers Natalie Hewit, Gareth Johnson, Chris Wilson and Toby Trackman whose wonderful projects have been nominated for this year's Broadcast Digital Awards. Shout out too, to former client Zoë Dobson who is also in the running for an award.
We are delighted for Natalie Hewit and the whole team behind the fantastic feature documentary Endurance, which is nominated in the Best Documentary Programme category. The film is a Nat Geo Doc Films, Little Dot Studios, History Hit, Consequential & Little Monster Films production for Disney+. It tells the story of polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton and his crew’s extraordinary feat of survival during the ill-fated Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1914-1917) and the search by modern-day explorers to find his sunken ship. It was co-directed by Natalie alongside Oscar-winning Directors Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin.
We are thrilled too for Gareth Johnson, Director of the extraordinary docuseries The Body Next Door which is nominated in the Best True Crime Documentary category. A Raw production for Sky Documentaries, the three-part series pieces together the story of one of the most bizarre murder investigations of the last decade, which began when a medical skeleton used for a prank turned out to be a real human body. The production uncovers a gripping murder mystery intertwined with a dramatic family saga reaching from the Welsh Valleys to the suburbs of New Zealand.
A huge well done to Chris Wilson, Series Director of the brilliant sports docuseries Game of Throws: Inside Darts which is nominated in the Best Documentary Series category. The three-part series is a Dorothy St Pictures & Meadowlark Media production for Sky Documentaries. It centres on the 2024 PDC World Darts Championships at Alexandra Palace which saw the rise of then 16-year-old Luke Littler from unknown teenager to break-out star and offers a rare insight into the lives of the top players, providing behind-the-scenes access to some of the sport’s leading names and the friends and family members who support them. Recently appointed Grierson Board Trustee and long-time Stern & Wild client Toby Trackman was Consulting Director.
We are really pleased for Zoë Dobson who rounded out last year with the entrancing three-part series Nutcracker: Backstage with English National Ballet, which is nominated in the Best Specialist Factual Programme category. It is a Cornerstone Studios production for Sky Arts. The series showcases what it takes to re-invent a world-renowned classic as seen through the eyes of all the key departments and ends with a two-hour special featuring a complete performance of the final show, filmed at London’s Coliseum. Zoë was Series Director.
We wish everyone the very best of luck!
