Latest project from Stern & Wild client pinpoints the day that changed Britain’s world status forever

Exciting news for Stern & Wild filmmaker Chris Holt whose two-part documentary on the pivotal final day of the crisis that ended Britain's dominance as a super-power is set to air on Channel 4 next week.

SUEZ: 24 HOURS THAT BROKE THE BRITISH EMPIRE relays the dramatic inside story of how the Suez Crisis triggered a run on sterling, felled a Prime Minister and confirmed Britain's status as a ‘second tier’ world power. Through the eyes of historians and those at the heart of Anthony Eden’s Government, the documentary gives viewers an hour-by-hour and minute-by-minute account of 6 November 1956, a fateful day that saw Britain bend to US pressure to end its short-lived attempt to regain control of the Suez Canal from Egypt’s new leader President Nasser and withdraw its forces alongside its French and Israeli partners.

The documentary is a Voltage TV production for Channel 4. It is written, directed and produced by Chris and is exec produced by Sam Starbuck and Lucy Carter. Lisa Gomer is Drama Producer, Hermione Hellyer is Producer and Lisa Clayton-Jones is Archive Producer.

SUEZ: 24 HOURS THAT BROKE THE BRITISH EMPIRE will air on Channel 4 at 9.00pm on Monday 20 April and Tuesday 21 April and will be available to stream on the Channel 4 platform.
