New take on the legacy-changing trial of the King of Pop set to drop
Huge shout out to Stern & Wild filmmaker Stuart Bernard, Edit Producer on the much-anticipated documentary MICHAEL JACKSON: THE VERDICT which drops on Netflix on 3 June.
Hot on the heels of the hit Jackson-estate authorised biopic MICHAEL, the three-part series revisits Michael Jackson’s infamous 2005 trial on multiple charges of child molestation and his subsequent acquittal on all counts. It aims to take viewers inside the court proceedings to hear from those who were there – jurors, eyewitnesses, accusers and defenders – providing perspectives from both the prosecution and the defence.
“Anyone interested in the Michael Jackson story should feel this documentary gives them a window into what was largely a closed event and a chance to feel closer to what happened,” the filmmakers said. “No cameras were allowed in court, and so the public’s view of the facts at the time were filtered by commentators and presented piecemeal. It was time to take a forensic look at the trial as a whole.”
MICHAEL JACKSON: THE VERDICT is a Candle True Stories production for Netflix. It was created by Candle True Stories’ Miranda Peters and is directed by Nick Green. David Herman is Showrunner and one of the film's three Exec Producers, alongside Fiona Stourton and James Goldston.
