Stern & Wild client scoops best directing award

Congratulations to Stern & Wild filmmaker James Kent, winner of the Best Director: Fiction prize at the 2025 BAFTA Cymru Awards for his extraordinary BBC drama series LOST BOYS AND FAIRIES.

Presented earlier this month, the award was one of five wins for the acclaimed three-part series which tells the story of singer and artiste Gabriel and his partner Andy as they go through the process of adopting a child. The series was the first drama on the BBC to address the subject of gay adoption and explores critical topics within the queer community such as gay shame and queer identity. The series also won Best Writer (Daf James), Best Actor (Sion Daniel Young), Best Editing (Danielle Palmer) and Best Television Drama.

The Cardiff-based drama is a Duck Soup Films production for BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Exec Producers are Rebekah Wray-Rogers, Libby Durdy, Jessica Brown Meek, Sophie Francis, Daf James and James Kent for Duck Soup , Jo McClellan for the BBC and Nick Andrews for BBC Cymru Wales.

Other nominations for the series include Best Limited Series at the 2025 BAFTA TV Awards and Best TV Movie/Mini-Series at the 2025 International Emmys. It was the winner of a 2025 Banff Rockie Award for Best Limited Series. James’s latest fiction project, STOLEN GIRL, a feature film starring Kate Beckinsale and Scott Eastwood is available to stream now on Prime Video and Apple TV.
