Stern & Wild filmmaker’s documentary makes royal history
Nicolas Brown’s landmark documentary for Amazon showcasing the King's environmental philosophy made history last night as the first ever film to premiere in a royal residence.
Windsor Castle’s iconic Waterloo Chamber was turned into a cinema for the evening for the screening of the feature length documentary FINDING HARMONY: A KING’S VISION which was attended by The King and Queen and other members of the Royal Family. A very starry guest-list included supporters of The King’s Foundation, headed by the film’s narrator Kate Winslet, alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, Kenneth Branagh, Judi Dench, Rod Stewart and Stanley Tucci, plus experts, academics, charity professionals and entrepreneurs from across the environmental and sustainability worlds.
“It was an incredibly special evening,” says director Nicolas, whose previous films have earned multiple awards including four Emmys and two BAFTAs. “Premiering a film in such an historic space is unprecedented and underscores the importance of this film and its message to His Majesty personally.”
Produced by Passion Planet in collaboration with The King’s Foundation for Prime Video, the film charts the story of how The King, as Prince of Wales, pursued early environmentalism and spoke up for the science behind biodiversity loss, deforestation and climate change long before these issues became mainstream. It also shows the monarch’s philosophy in practice through the life-changing work of his charity, The King’s Foundation.
Introducing the film to the audience last night, Kate Winslet said it had been “a lifetime in the making” as she praised The King's “great vision and foresight”.
“The film is a testament to The King’s lifelong battle to bring nature and humanity into harmony,” says Nicolas. “We hope audiences feel uplifted by watching it and are inspired to bring nature back into everything they do.”
FINDING HARMONY: A KING’S VISION will be released on Prime Video on 6 February.
A history-making debut for a fantastic documentary!
