Hannah Berryman's SPACEWOMAN set for March landing in US cinemas

Stern & Wild filmmaker Hannah Berryman's fantastic feature documentary about the first woman to pilot and command a NASA spacecraft is set for a theatrical release in the USA next month.

SPACEWOMAN recounts astronaut Eileen Collins’ trailblazing journey to become the first woman to pilot the Space Shuttle and the first to command a Space Shuttle mission. The film explores Eileen’s inspirational life and career, from humble beginnings in upstate New York to smashing countless glass ceilings in the US Air Force and at NASA, culminating in four increasingly dramatic and dangerous Space Shuttle missions.

The 95-min film had a successful limited release in the UK in late 2025. It is produced by Haviland Digital in association with Tigerlily Productions. Producers are Keith Haviland and Natasha Dack; Hannah is Director.

A three-time Grierson and two-time BAFTA nominee, Hannah’s recent credits include COCO CHANEL: UNBUTTONED (Whynow Studios/Arena for the BBC/Fremantle Worldwide), BANNED! THE MARY WHITEHOUSE STORY (BBC Studios for BBC Arts/BBC Two) and ROCKFIELD: THE STUDIO ON THE FARM (ie ie Productions for the BBC).

SPACEWOMAN opens at the Quad Cinema in New York on 20 March with a special screening and the first of three Q&As at the venue with both Eileen Collins and Hannah Berryman. For the remainder of March and throughout April, the film will screen at selected cinemas across the US, many of which will feature Q&A sessions with Eileen and Hannah.
