Sebastian Smith’s true-crime docuseries on the search for escaped prisoner and notorious US double murderer Sarah Pender is now streaming on Hulu and Disney+
The three-part docuseries GIRL ON THE RUN: THE HUNT FOR AMERICA’S MOST WANTED WOMAN directed by Stern & Wild filmmaker Sebastian Smith premiered on Hulu and Disney+ last night.
The gripping series follows the extraordinary story of convicted murderer Sarah Pender, who in 2000, was sentenced to over 100 years for her role in the killings of her two roommates by her former boyfriend. She was held in a maximum-security prison in Indiana, but in 2008 with the help of a prison guard and former cellmate, she managed to escape and stay on the run for months, in a story that captivated the American public.
The series features an exclusive interview with Pender, who maintains her innocence, as well as accounts from the law enforcement officer who led the pursuit, Pender’s parents, former inmates who served time alongside Pender and her ex-boyfriend Rick Hull, who is still serving time in prison for the double murders.
It is produced by UK indie Plum Pictures and ABC News Studios. Stuart Cabb and Tom Pearson are Exec Producers for Plum Pictures, Beth Hoppe is Exec Producer and David Sloan is Senior Exec Producer for ABC News Studios. Sebastian is the Director.
The series is available to stream now in the UK on Disney+.
