Stern & Wild client turns the lens on Rome for glossy new series

We are delighted for Stern & Wild filmmaker Johanna Woolford Gibbon whose latest project premiered on the History Channel in the US this week.

A premium two-part documentary distilling “2000 years of epic action”, THE RISE & FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE explores the precise turning points and strategic military blunders behind Rome’s unprecedented expansion and inevitable destruction.

The latest foray into the perennially popular subject from UK indie October Films (EMPEROR: RISE & FALL OF A DYNASTY, COLOSSUEM), the series aired on the History Channel on 27 and 28 May and is available to stream in the US on Sling TV, Philo, Hulu With Live TV, YouTube TV, and DirecTV. We hope to report on a UK transmission date soon.

The series is written, produced and directed by the brilliant Johnny Crockett. Johanna is Exec Producer alongside Jos Cushing.

Johanna describes the production as “one of the most joyous work experiences of recent years, made by a very small team of dedicated talented people, supporting each other to be at their creative best. The experience reminded me how wonderful our industry can be, if we’re supported in carving out collaborative spaces in which to think and create”.

It’s a thumbs-up from us.
