Stern & Wild client projects lead Edinburgh TV Awards doc prize shortlist
We are delighted to report that five fantastic projects from Stern & Wild filmmakers have been shortlisted for this year’s Edinburgh TV Awards, four of which are in the running for the coveted Best Documentary prize. Huge shout out to Jenny Ash, Erica Gornall, Kira Phillips, Benedict Sanderson, Niamh Kennedy and Sara Brailsford.
Four of the total six shortlisted projects in the Best Documentary category this year are titles made by Stern & Wild clients. What a brilliant reflection of the extraordinary depth of talent we represent. Our filmmakers’ four nominated projects are:
Feature documentary FLIGHT 149: HOSTAGE OF WAR (Drum Studios for Sky) which was originated, written and directed by Jenny Ash. The film won this year’s RTS Award for Best History Programme;
Feature documentary PRISONER 951: THE HOSTAGES’ STORY (Dancing Ledge Productions for the BBC) which was directed by Erica Gornall. The film was nominated for Best Documentary in the Social Issues & Current Affairs category at this year’s Rockie Awards;
Two-part investigative documentary SEE NO EVIL (Passion Pictures for Channel 4) which was exec produced by Kira Phillips with Benedict Sanderson as Series Director. The production won Best Factual Series at this year’s BAFTA Television Awards; and
Feature documentary THE DUNBLANE TAPES (Candour Productions for Channel 4) which was co-directed (with Anna Hall) by our latest agency signing Niamh Kennedy. The film earned rave reviews from the critics with across the board four- or five-star ratings.
Our fifth nominated client project is the third season of the rather joyous THE RELUCTANT TRAVELLER WITH EUGENE LEVY (Twofour in association with Apple for Apple TV) which is shortlisted for Best Popular Factual Series. The season is exec produced by Sara Brailsford.
Good luck to all our amazingly talented filmmakers and to everyone involved in these wonderful projects. The Edinburgh TV Festival runs from August 25 to 28; this year’s award winners will be announced on Thursday 27 August at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
