Prison corruption exposé secures Broadcast Digital Award win for Stern & Wild’s Derren Lawford
Huge shout out to Stern & Wild filmmaker Derren Lawford whose documentary UK PRISONS – SEX, DRUGS & CORRUPTION: UNTOLD won the Best Current Affairs Programme prize at last night’s Broadcast Digital Awards.
The 30-min film uncovers a hidden world inside UK prisons, revealing corruption amongst prison officers, shocking attitudes towards inmate relationships, illicit drug use and a culture of unchecked violence. It is presented by ex-prisoner David Navarro and was produced for Channel 4’s digital-first documentary strand UNTOLD by Derren’s now shuttered Dare Pictures. It is produced and directed by Riva J (an award-winning directorial debut no less!). Derren is Exec Producer.
Congratulations to Derren, David, Riva J and the whole team behind this brilliant film. For a full list of last night’s winners, click here.
