Stern & Wild supports upcoming talent through the Grierson Sessions

Definitely one for the diary! We’re thrilled to sponsor this upcoming Grierson Trust masterclass for new and emerging factual filmmakers featuring a stellar line-up of directing talent including our very own Alex Thomas (BIBAA AND NICOLE: MURDER IN THE PARK).

BREAKING THROUGH AS A DOCUMENTARY DIRECTOR will see three award-winning documentary directors discuss how they developed their craft and worked to establish themselves at the top of their field. Alongside Alex, the panel includes Liza Williams (ATTACK ON LONDON: HUNTING THE 7/7 BOMBERS) and Josh Allott (SHOULD I MARRY A MURDERER?). The moderator is Anna Higgs. It is scheduled for Thursday 16 July, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM.

The masterclass is part of the fantastic Grierson Sessions programme, a year-long series of training and career development events introduced to celebrate the centenary of John Grierson coining the term "documentary".

In addition to masterclasses, the programme includes CV clinics, talent manager meetings and career clinics with Grierson Trustees who include Stern & Wild filmmakers Derren Lawford (UK PRISONS – SEX, DRUGS & CORRUPTION: UNTOLD) and Toby Trackman (THE LAST MUSICIAN OF AUSCHWITZ).

Career clinics are aimed at directors, producers, editors and executives with experience on a longform documentary and offer a one-to-one hour-long meeting with a Trustee. To register for a chance to secure a place, apply with your CV and a note on how the advice could help advance your documentary career by 5:00 PM, 24 July.
